My maternal grandmother came over form Ireland when she was just 17. I went over to Ireland and visited the farm where she was born and where generations later still live back in 2005. And now with Ancestry.com I was able to see that I am 85% Irish, 14% Scottish and 1% Wales. My father’s family also originated in Ireland and Scotland. Deep irish roots that I feel very connected to. So, I couldn’t let this day go without a tribute to the Irish!
