Military Wedding Photography

It’s been a few weeks since my last post. The post where I said my One Word for the year is Flow

I’ve been going with the flow all month and it’s flown right by!

In November Kelly got engaged to her boyfriend, and enlisted man in the Army stationed at Fort Meyer. No date was set and we were trying to figure things out. After his winter leave was granted in the middle of December they decided that they wanted to get married while he was on leave. So we had 18 days to pull it together. We kept it simple. Just parents with a service at the courthouse near our home which actually had a cute little storefront that looked more like a cheesy italian restaurant. Followed it up with me behind the lens taking hundreds of pictures of them at my cousins’ farm. You’d never know it was January. You’d never know it was in the 30s. It was perfect. I am so grateful to them for the opportunity to take the pictures there! After the pictures we went back to the house and celebrated with some champagne [that I forgot to chill oops!] and wedding cake along with a little light lunch before Kelly and Alex headed out on a mini honeymoon to the inner harbor.

I think I’m still trying to get my head around the fact that my daughter is married! And yes, she will be finishing college in the Fall so we will be celebrating a graduation in December before Alex is due to get a new post assignment in January of 2017.

The rest of this month has been a blur. Lots of exciting things happening with work and around here we’re still covered in snow from the blizzard earlier this month too!

Next up? A puppy is joining them later today in fact! Not wasting any time! haha

And we are embracing the truly empty nest, getting ready for some paint and redecorating and a girls trip for me later in February!
Hopefully a few more blog posts in between! 😉
