This week I’m going to show you how to take the Deckled Edge Journalers along with a paper pack and make some custom Deckled Edge Photo Mats to accent your page like you see above.

p2

Step 1: Place the paper [I used a paper from Botanist Workbook No. 4] and theDeckled Edge Journaler on your layout and then move the journaler to the layer below the paper.

p3

Step 2: Set your blend mode to multiply so the paper picks up the attributes of the deckled edge journaler below.

p4

Step 3: With your paper as the active layer, command + click [ctrl + click on a pc] on the journaler’s layer thumbnail to make it an active selection.

p5

Step 4: Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal Selection to mask your paper to the journaler. Alternatively, you can also go to the layer palette and there is a drop down menu in the upper right corner whre you can choose create clipping mask and it will ‘clip’ to the shape of the layer below. If you don’t have either of these options, inverse your selection and delete the surrounding paper.

p6

And simple as that, you’re done!

p7

I repeated that technique a few times with different papers to add to the layering below the Binder Ring Notebook and the Stacked Photo Frames on top to complete the layered look!
